As parents we worried about our daughter headed off to college. We still worry, but not as much now that she has been through Teri’s class and has the tools to protect herself.”

I didn’t used to give my personal safety much thought. I relied on the men in my life to keep me safe. But when the bad guy showed up at my house, and there was no one else around, it didn’t take me long to realize that I had no idea what to do and that my safety was in real trouble. 1 in 5 women will be victims of assault in their lifetime and sadly, I am one of those five. Never in a million years did I think that would happen to me!
After that terrifying day, I set out to get the tools and skills that I needed to take responsibility for my own safety. I was frustrated to discover how difficult it was to find someone who was knowledgeable and available to help me sift through all the inconsistent information about personal safety options for women. The guidance that I did find was often provided by a man, in tactical gear and I felt intimidated. On my own, I learned everything I could about the various options for personal safety and I shared this valuable information with the women in my family, then their friends wanted to learn and their friends and their friends…. Take Charge is the complete resource for women to obtain and learn about the various options for being safe at home and in public in a supportive and non-intimidating environment. All Take Charge instructors are women.
I created Take Charge, LLC to guide women of all ages and abilities on how to create their own personal safety plan. I will help you decide which tools are the best and which fit into your lifestyle.
You will learn what it means to use lethal force vs the need to stop a threat, when each are justified, what tools to use and how to use them. We will discuss everything from firearms to pepper gel, personal alarms to basic self-defense moves and we will do it in a candid manner. Every woman deserves access to this information and Take Charge is the reliable source for all women of all ages and abilities.

As a realtor who is “out there” every day, I live in fear that an appointment may be a set up to an assault. Now I feel that I’m much more prepared to protect myself.
